About the song
Released on June 10, 1975, *One of These Nights* marks a pivotal moment in the Eagles’ career, cementing their status as international rock stars. This fourth studio album was a major commercial success and played a significant role in shaping the band’s legacy. It became their first number one album on the Billboard Top LPs & Tape chart and produced three Top 10 singles: the title track “One of These Nights,” “Lyin’ Eyes,” and “Take It to the Limit.” The title track also reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, further establishing the Eagles as a leading force in rock music.
The album’s success was not just limited to its chart performance. It sold over four million copies and received critical acclaim, earning a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year. Additionally, “Lyin’ Eyes” was nominated for Record of the Year and won the Eagles their first Grammy for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals at the 18th Annual Grammy Awards in 1976.
*One of These Nights* is also notable for being the last Eagles album to feature the original lineup of Randy Meisner, Glenn Frey, Don Henley, and Bernie Leadon, along with the then-new member Don Felder. Leadon, who was unhappy with the band’s shift toward a more mainstream rock sound, left after the album’s tour and was replaced by Joe Walsh. The album includes “Visions,” the only Eagles song on which lead guitarist Don Felder provided lead vocals, highlighting his desire to contribute more to the band’s music.
The recording sessions for the album began in late 1974, with Frey and Henley writing four of the nine tracks and collaborating with other band members on additional songs. The album reflects a blend of rock, country, and folk influences, with tracks like “Journey of the Sorcerer” and “I Wish You Peace” showcasing the band’s diverse musical range. “Journey of the Sorcerer” later gained fame as the theme music for Douglas Adams’ *The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy* radio series.
The album cover, designed by Boyd Elder, features a painted skull with intricate details, symbolizing the band’s transition from their country roots to a more polished rock sound. This artwork was well-received and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Album Package.
*One of These Nights* is remembered for its strong songwriting, influential sound, and the significant changes it marked in the Eagles’ lineup. It remains a high point in the band’s discography, celebrated for its memorable tracks and lasting impact on rock music.

Lyrics
One of these nights
One of these crazy old nights
We’re gonna find out
Pretty mama
What turns on your lights
The full moon is calling
The fever is high
And the wicked wind whispers
And moansYou got your demons
And you got desires
Well, I got a few of my ownOh, someone to be kind to in
Between the dark and the light
Oh, coming right behind you
Swear I’m gonna find you
One of these nightsOne of these dreams
One of these lost and lonely dreams now
We’re gonna find one
One that really screamsI’ve been searching for the daughter
Of the devil himself
I’ve been searching for an angel in white
I’ve been waiting for a woman who’s a little
Of both
And I can feel her but she’s nowhere
In sightOh, loneliness will blind you
In between the wrong and the right
Oh, coming right behind you
Swear I’m gonna find you
One of these nightsOne of these nights
In between the dark and the light
Coming right behind you
Swear I’m gonna find you
Get ya baby one of these nightsOne of these nights
One of these nightsI can feel it
I can feel it
One of these nights
Coming right behind you
Swear I’m gonna find you now
One of these nightsAnd it gets so dark, so dark
In the cold and lonely
One of these nights
One of these crazy, crazy, crazy nights
One of these nights
Swear I’m gonna find you
Coming right behind you now
One of these nights
Ooh oohOne of these nights
Ah and I wanna say ah!
One of these nights
Yes ah one of these one of these
One of these nights
Ah coming right behind you
Swear I’m gonna find you
One of these nights
One of these nights
One of these crazy old nights
One of these nights
